Disney Pregnancy Annoucements

So, I am now a pregnant Disney addict and we announced our pregnancy at Disney – of course! So I wanted to share my announcement in case you’re in need of ideas.

I wanted to make sure our baby announcement had Disney in the mix because it’s such a big part of our life. I chose Animal Kingdom as the place to announce because it’s the theme for our baby’s room, etc…

I researched how to announce a pregnancy at disney to get ideas and decided that I would go very general with this one. I bought a generic set of mickey ears and place the due date and our name on the ears. I used this to announce to the ‘world’ (social media). This was our first trimester announcement, so no sex of the baby was revealed with this one. I did already have a great camera, so I used a Canon Rebel DSLR for these pictures.

What you Need

  • A Good Camera

So, while talking about the Canon, I have to say this is probably one of the best investments I’ve ever made. I use this camera all the time. Obviously I blog and use it for the site but I also use it for Etsy and Ebay. I LOVE that camera. It’s so easy to take great pictures. I really feel I have saved money on professional photography just for having it. I believe my version is the T3 but the newest model is the T5. Here’s a Canon EOS Rebel T5 DSLR LINKto a great inexpensive package on Amazon.

  • Mickey Ears with Embroidery

I bought mine at Disney Springs. There is one store that does the embroidery there. You could also go to any of the other parks that offer this service. We had to ask where we could get these at the Springs. Simply ask any cast member and they’ll take you where you can have this done. One place I know that does it very frequently is the Chapeau at Magic Kingdom. Keep in mind characters are limited on the ears! Pick your words wisely.

  • Some Creativity and perhaps a set of hands.

I bought the husband along to hold the ears as you can see in the picture above. I’d take the picture and focus on getting it looking great. We tried different places in the park. I liked the Tree of Life most of all because it’s the central hub of the park. If you plan on doing a princess theme, take them near the castle. If you have a Winnie the Pooh theme, take them in fantasyland. The options are endless.

What you Don’t Need

A professional photographer! I saved so much money doing this myself and I feel like the announcement looked awesome and professional.

You also don’t need park tickets to do this. You can take pictures at Disney Springs or at one of the many resorts. They are all so very beautiful. If you are an annual passholder like me, though, it’s not an issue to get in the parks.

You don’t need to wait until late at night or very early in the morning when the park is empty. Just focus your picture going towards the sky and you’ll manage to avoid other people in the shot. You can also walk around until you find a spot which is lower in the amount of people walking around!
